EPL: Manchester City – Liverpool | Match Preview

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City will host Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool in Matchweek 29 of the 2016/2017 English Premier League at City of Manchester Stadium.

MANCHESTER CITY
The iconic football coach, Pep Guardiola, has had a very difficult season with his team underperforming in England and Europe. They were bitterly eliminated from the UEFA Champions League by Leonardo Jardim’s AS Monaco. Nevertheless, Manchester City have reached the semi-final of the 2016/2017 FA Cup and will face Arsène Wenger’s Arsenal at Wembley Stadium.

Manchester City were held by Stoke City in a goalless draw in their previous English Premier League-match. Manchester City are located on a third place 56 points in the league table, just a point ahead of Liverpool. Manchester City are unbeaten in their last five matches in the English Premier League.

Team News: Manager Pep Guardiola did not report anything about new injury concerns. However, Brazil international Gabriel Jesus and Germany international Ilkay Gundogan are still out due to injuries. The Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany, who been sidelined due to a knee injury, is hopeful on a recall as Manchester City host Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.

LIVERPOOL
Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool also had a strange season as their first part of the season from August to December was fantastic with several important victories and performing brilliant football. Their second part of season has not been the best against the weaker, smaller clubs.

Liverpool narrowly defeated Sean Dyche’s Burnley with two-one in their previous English Premier League match at Anfield. Liverpool are located on a fourth place with 55 points in the league table, just a point behind Manchester City.

Team News: Manager Jürgeb Klopp said in his pre-match press conference that he hopes the Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino will be fit for Sunday’s trip to Manchester City. The Brazil international missed the match against Burnley due to a groin injury but returned to training on Friday, although striker Divock Origi is a doubt after missing Thursday’s session. Defender Dejan Lovren is fully fit after playing 75 minutes for the Under-23s on Monday but Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Henderson are both sidelined due to hip and foot injuries respectively.
