Svenska Cupen: IFK Göteborg Eliminated – Local Rivals Häcken Reached Semi-Final | Quarter-Finals

IFK Göteborg were stunningly eliminated from the 2016/2017 Svenska Cupen after suffering a narrow defeat at home. BK Häcken, the defenidng Swedish Cup champions, managed to advance into the semi-final.


ÖSTERSUNDS FK 4, TRELLEBORGS FF 1
Swedish football league side Östersunds FK crushed Trelleborgs FF, who play in the second tier league Superettan, at home and reached their first ever semi-final in the Swedish Cup.

IFK GÖTEBORG 1, IFK NORRKÖPING 2
The 2015 Allsvenskan champions IFK Norrköping narrowly defeated IFK Göteborg in their own backyard at Ullevi Stadium and reached the semi-final. Huge disappointment for Jörgen Lennartsson’s IFK Göteborg.

ELFSBORG 1, BROMMAPOJKARNA 2
Superettan side Brommapojkarna visited Borås Arena and stunned IF Elfsborg and its fans as Viktor Gyoekeres scored the winning goal that sent Brommapojkarna into the semi-final.

HÄCKEN 3, AIK 0
The defending Swedish Cup champions BK Häcken hosted Stockolm-based, gigantic club AIK in the quarter-final at Bravida Arena in Gothenburg. Three goals were scored and comfortably sent BK Häcken into the semi-final of the 2016/2017 Svenska Cupen.


IFK NORRKÖPING – BROMMAPOJKARNA
The draw for the fixtures of the semi-final decided that IFK Norrköping will host IF Brommapojkarna at Östgötaporten on either March 18th or 19th.

HÄCKEN – ÖSTERSUNDS FK
The defenidng Svenska Cupen champions BK Häcken will host Östersunds FK in the semi-final of the 2016/2017 Svenska Cupen at home, Bravida Arena, in Gothenburg on either March 18th or 19th.
