Newcomers AFC Eskilstuna will face Halmstads BK in their opening match of 2017 Allsvenskan on April 2 at home. This is the season-preview of AFC Eskilstuna.
AFC Eskilstuna are making their debut in the 2017 Allsvenskan. They were competing in the second tier league, 2016 Superettan, as AFC United. They managed to get promoted to the 2017 Allsvenskan as the runners-up in Superettan. AFC Eskilstuna grabbed 18 victories and seven draws, leading them to collect overall 61 points. It was the same amount of points as the current Superettan champions IK Sirius but the latter got a better goal difference. AFC Eskilstuna suffered five defeats in Superettan. They managed to score 50 and concede 20 goals.
The best goalscorer of AFC Eskilstuna in the 2016 Superettan were Mohamed Buya Turay will ten goals scored. Both, Mohamed Buya Turay and Othman El Kabir, were crowned the assist kings with seven assists each.

Italian born restaurante-owner Alessandro Catenacci founded this club in 1991 as “Football Club Café Opera”. They started in division 8 of the Swedish football league system. However, just after nine years later they had made it to the Swedish second tier league, Superettan.
In 2005, FC Café Opera and Väsby IK, two Stockholm-based football clubs, merged, creating “Football Club Väsby United”.
Väsby United initiated cooperation with Division 3 club Athletic FC, which eventually led to create AFC United in 2012. After the sensational promotion to the top tier league, Allsvenskan, AFC United decided to move the club to Eskilstuna during the late parts of fall 2016. They also changed their name once again. This time to Eskilstuna.
