The Swedish football federation officially announced on January 12, 2017 that Sweden men’s national football team will face the European champions Portugal in a friendly match on March 28.
The friendly match will played at Estádio do Marítimo, which is located in Funchal on the Portuguese island of Madeira. It is the birth place of the Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and the stadium can hold up to 10,600 people.
According to the Swedish football federation there is also an agreement on a friendly match to be played on Swedish ground in the future.
Portugal are the current European champions after winning their first ever European Championship-title after defeating the host nation and favourites France last summer at Stade de France in Paris.
